The Topeka Renaissance Fall Festival runs October 23 through 25, 2026, at The Woodshed Event Center, 1901 N. Kansas Ave. A Halloween Ball kicks off Friday from 6 to 10 pm, followed by the main festival Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, with live combat demonstrations, a birds of prey show, fire performers, four stages of entertainment, axe throwing, face painting and henna, plus pubs and unique vendors.

City Hall offices and Lenexa Old Town Activity Center will be closed for Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7. Other facilities have adjusted hours. Since 1984, the Great Lenexa BBQ Battle has brought together some of the region’s best pitmasters for one of Kansas’ longest-running barbecue competitions. What began in 1982 with just 12 teams has grown into a premier event featuring 150–200 teams competing for the title of Grand Champion. Friday night is the best time for the public to experience the BBQ Battle. Enjoy live music, kids activities, food and drinks, and a festival-style atmosphere as teams host private parties throughout the park. For the first time in 2026, guests can also enjoy free BBQ samples from five featured locations while supplies last.
