The Parkville Farmers Market is a grower verified market held at English Landing Park in downtown Parkville, with a new shelter now open off S East Street near the park. Vendors sell locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, farm fresh eggs, honey, jams and jellies, homemade baked breads, plants, cut flowers, herbs and mushrooms.
Silver Dollar City's Harvest Festival fills the park with pumpkin displays, visiting artisans, resident craft demonstrations, fall food, rides, and entertainment. Craft Days showcase hundreds of artisans, while Pumpkins In The City adds an illuminated nighttime experience.
The Fair Parade will be Saturday, September 12 starting at Capaha Park and heading west on Broadway at 9:30am. The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Festival runs weekends from September 12 through October 25, 2026, plus Monday, October 12, with hours of 10 am to 6 pm, rain or shine, at Rotary Park, 2577 West Meyer Road in Wentzville. Now in its 28th year, the festival recreates a 1520s French village with jousting, music, food and craft vendors.
The 55th annual Jesse James Festival runs Sept. 12 and 18 through 20, 2026, at Jesse James Park in Kearney, about 20 minutes north of downtown Kansas City. The multi day event includes a rodeo, a 5K/10K run, a demolition derby, disc golf, a fishing tournament, a carnival, mud volleyball, a garden tractor pull and a parade.

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race is a free two-day event held annually in Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri since 1973, making it the second oldest balloon race in the United States. The 54th annual edition takes place September 18-19, 2026, featuring the Balloon GLOW on Friday evening and the Hare-and-Hound-Style Race on Saturday afternoon. The Fair Grove Historical and Preservation Society was created in the 1970s with the goal of preserving and restoring a grist mill located at the center of Fair Grove, Missouri. It is one of the premier attractions of its type in the region, and is a living museum depicting life at the turn of the 19th century, into the early part of the 20th century. This mill was originally known as the Boegel & Hines mill, but after changing hands several times became known locally as Wommack Mill. As you can see from the pictures above, thanks to the can-do spirit of the entire community the mill was restored and saved. The mill itself is located next to a small stream which usually doesn't run. Instead of attempting to build a mill pond with a very small drainage area, the decision was made to make the mill steam powered.
