Wellsburg Applefest, now in its 46th year, has celebrated the area's apple growing history since 1979 in Wellsburg, West Virginia. The festival nods to the legend of Johnny Appleseed planting trees along the Ohio River and to the Grimes Golden apple discovered on the Thomas Grimes farm, with proceeds funding scholarships for local children. Pets are not permitted at the event under city ordinance.
