A festival celebrating German heritage, music and food in downtown Waterloo. Dress in your dirndls and lederhosen, grab your stein and your friends, and get your Prost on at Iowa Oktoberfest! The polka party happens around Anton’s German Bier Garden and on East 4th Street, just north of the river. There will be live music; beer and food, and fun contests. A traditional Bavarian endurance contest during which contestants must hold a one-liter stein of beer in one outstretched arm for as long as possible. The filled stein weighs roughly five pounds and must be kept parallel to the ground at all times. Any spilling leads to immediate disqualification! The person who holds theirs out for the longest time, wins. This German game involves hammering some nails into a tree and drinking for whenever you mess up. The 2nd annual Butler County Vintage Market, Antique and Craft Show runs from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27, at 101 South Main Street in Allison, featuring antiques, vintage, primitive and rustic items in the Maifeld Livestock Building and crafts in the Henning Building. Food trucks, beverages and live music run on the grounds, rain or shine, and vendor camping is available on site. Admission is 1 dollar for anyone 17 and older, with free parking.

The Swamp Fox Festival is Marion, Iowa's annual celebration held the last weekend in September, anchored by Lowe Park at 4901 Alburnett Road. The weekend combines a 5K, 10K and kids' fun run, a parade through downtown, a pancake breakfast, and the Fall Marion Market with more than 50 vendors selling produce, artisan goods and food in City Square Park, plus evening entertainment and fireworks at Lowe Park.

SkateFest Omaha’s Broadway event takes place October 11, 2026 at Broadway Skate Park, 1300 W Broadway, Council Bluffs, Iowa. The festival combines skateboarding, live music, art, local vendors, and food. The organizer’s vendor application lists the October 11 Broadway event with a $30 fee for selected vendors; payment plans are accepted. Vendors can also request consideration for live art, which offers a $50 stipend and waives the vendor fee for selected participants. No application deadline is stated. Since 1973, the community of Remsen has celebrated Oktoberfest annually on the last Saturday in October. The event’s mission is to carry on the community tradition of the Luxembourg and German heritage while celebrating the end of harvest. Start the day browsing and shopping craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at MMCRU with over 90 vendors. Breakfast and lunch will be available.
