We highlight the unique and rich history of Jamaica Plain. Jamaica Plain is a neighborhood in the City of Boston, Massachusetts. The Jamaica Plain Historical Society collects stories, images and items about the history of the neighborhood and preserves them. From Slavery to Freedom: Three Centuries of a Black Family in Jamaica Plain Hidden Jamaica Plain uncovers a remarkable multi-generational story of a single free Black family whose history spanned three centuries and intertwined with the history of Jamaica Plain. As well as the Indigenous and Black communities of neighboring West Roxbury, Canton, Dedham, Milton and Boston.
