About the event
AsiaFest is one of Edmonton’s largest Asian night markets, held annually at Currents of Windermere. Founded in 2022, the event brings together food, culture, performances, and community in a vibrant festival inspired by traditional Asian night markets. In September 2022, a small group of newcomers and long-time immigrants came together with a shared goal — to introduce more Asian culture to Edmonton, create opportunities for small businesses, and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a meaningful way. At the time, we had no funding, no connections, and no event experience. What we did have was a strong belief in community, and a desire to build something that felt like home. The very first event, originally called Taste of Asia Night Market, featured just 10 vendors — 4 food booths and 6 merchandise vendors. Despite its small scale, the response was overwhelming.
